Waking up to a Superpower
Imagine for a moment you are a young woman, on the cusp of life: graduate school, possibly marriage, motherhood, and a screenwriting career, when bam! a car collision knocks you almost out of your life. That was filmmaker Alicia Eastes in 2011, when she was hit by a truck and thrown 40 feet in the air while biking home.
What was left of Alicia was suspended in a coma for 13 days, and she describes the time between waking from the coma and her daughter’s birth four years later as this "liminal space" or threshold between what was and what would be.
